Hey there peeps ! You know what ? I was really stress up lately, you know students life too many things to think plus my lappy didn’t cooperate well and running super duper slow urghh ! It keeps lagging aIl the time ! think I need a new one hehe I’ll tell my dad later :P I was supposed to finish this third reflection on last week but yeah you know, I told ya already

i believe that all of you have experienced your school life time right, i just found this picture in google which is quite interesting, so what kind of teacher you want to be in future? if me, i prefer to be the last one 😝 nahh kidding !

On 7th March is our class, but unfortunately our lecturer didn’t managed to lecture us on that day, she postponed it on the next day due to unavoidable reason I guess. We had discussed about “NAVIGATING THE BUMPY ROAD TO STUDENT CENTERED INSTRUCTION” in class. It’s about conventional student’s experiences of adapting  learning by their own in student centered educations and the obstacles in teaching conventional students.

And this time, we’re assigned to:
“ Suggest 2 methods to solve 4 selected issues from 11 listed highlighted in the article”.

1) If I spend time in class on active learning, I’ll never get through the syllabus.

It is not really necessary to spend lots of time by teaching in class, by giving questions for them to answer either individually or in a small group is better than taking more times to transcribe the course one by one in class. Plus, it helps educators to finish the syllabus faster and also can enhance their thinking skills to solve the questions that given.

Next, spend class time only by explaining the most difficult part of the notes and leaving the students to cover the rest for themselves. Because nowadays, during teaching and learning process it is not the same as the conventional time where students just been given and absorb information from the educator, active learning are more to encouraging students to be proactive.

2) If I don’t lecture, I’ll lose control.

Some students are good in accepting SCI learning method but some students are having difficulty by getting past the negativity and keep on complaining what are the main purpose for them to learn that certain topics. An educator have to take some times to explain them the reason why they have to learn that topics and relate the real situation in real life that they might have to face in future.

Instead of teaching, an educator must know how to entertain students. The point is to attract their attention so that they won’t be too stress up and keep on complaining. The learning session supposed to be interesting.

3) If assign homework, presentation or projects to groups, some students will “hitchhike” getting credit for work in which they did not actively participate.

This keeps happen whenever they were given group assignment. Some students are just getting free ride and did not participate in the group  task. To overcome this situation, educators have to monitor their work done, one by one and make sure that everyone will participate. Meanwhile there will be no chance for them to escape.

Next, lectures role play. Educators should decide which topic to be given to each students eventhough it is a group assignment. It is to ensure that they were doing their work individually and also can encourage them working together by having discussion to each other.

4) When I tried active learning in one of my classes, many of the students hated it. Some refused to cooperate and made their hostility to the approach and to me very clear.

Try to persude the students by playing games and relate it with the topic that they were learning. it will encourage their participation and also avoid their bordness.

Giving some break time for them in teaching. Based on my experience as a students I do understand that sometimes we might feel very tired, so give them some space. So that they won’t be too pressure.

okay thank you muah 😘

FACT ! 😆

  1. Hi there! Good methods ins solving the problems. You mentioned "educators have to monitor their work done, one by one and make sure that everyone will participate" for hitchhike.
How effective do you think this solution is? A teacher not only teaches one class, not mentioning the number of students in a class. How do you think the teacher will be able to check one by one?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    1. hye, i believe that all of us have been facing this kind of situation at sch, the teacher will set a due date when to pass up their work, so on that day the teacher should check if they are all doing it. if there are some of them who did not doing it, the teacher can gives some punishment such as cleaning the class for a lesson

  3. Hi there, sorry for the late feedback, Item4 solution1, about game.
do you think this could be applied for university students too? Will they not cooperate?

    1. I think yes, why not? if there are some of them who do not want to cooperate, then include all of the students to play the game. no exception. By givin extra marks for their carry marks might attract them to participate too hahah
